ACNE / PIMPLES IN ADULTS
Adult acne most often occurs as a result of other causes than acne in adolescence. Both people with oily skin and those with dry/sensitive skin can experience blemishes and pimples. In people with dry and sensitive skin, pimples can occur as a result of an imbalance in the skin. Irritation, blemishes and a compensatory increase in sebum production can thus lead to red, inflamed pimples.

Both people with oily skin and those with dry/sensitive skin can experience blemishes and pimples. In people with dry and sensitive skin, pimples can occur as a result of an imbalance in the skin. Irritation, blemishes and a compensatory increase in sebum production can lead to red, inflamed pimples. People with dry skin have smaller pores and may also have other forms of skin irritation, such as eczema.
People with large pores often have oily skin and increased sebum production. The pimples that occur in these people usually have less redness and irritation, but more clogged, black pores – so-called comedone acne.
There can be several causes of acne and blemishes, and there are different types of acne. Pimples can have varying degrees of inflammation. Pimples, which become red and may contain sebum or pus, are local inflammatory reactions in the skin, where bacteria contribute to the problems. The inflammatory reaction in the skin weakens the skin's barrier function, which reduces the skin's resistance and protective ability.
The skin’s barrier to the environment is an important part of the skin’s own defense and plays a central role in maintaining the skin’s moisture level and protecting the skin from the effects of wind and weather, UV rays and air pollution. When the barrier function is weakened, the skin becomes “leaky” and loses moisture. This can make the skin flabby, dry, sensitized and irritated. Such skin also becomes more susceptible to bacterial infections, which worsens the tendency to acne.
To counteract dryness, the skin compensates by increasing sebum production. This contributes to clogged pores, impurities, irritation and pimples, as well as a shinier skin. People with a tendency to impurities and pimples often cleanse their skin too harshly. Unfortunately, this leads to further wear and tear on the skin's barrier function and a further weakening of the skin's resistance. You can therefore easily end up in a vicious circle with irritated and acne-prone skin, combined with both dry areas and oily areas.
Regardless of skin type and cause of blemishes, we recommend a skin care routine that strengthens the skin barrier without drying it out.
Remember to remove makeup every night. Cleansers should be gentle so they don't dry out the skin, but at the same time provide an effective deep cleanse to remove dirt, particles and dead skin cells. Light exfoliation a couple of times a week is a good supplement, but remember to be gentle. It is sufficient to apply the cleanser with a washcloth and massage gently.
WASH the day off facial cleanser is developed for people with sensitive and irritated skin. It cleanses the skin effectively, while being mild and gentle on the skin. It contains, among other things, allantoin, aloe vera and panthenol, which have a soothing effect and prevent dryness.
We recommend vitamin A in the form of retinyl palmitate . Retinyl palmitate has far fewer side effects than retinol and causes significantly less strain on the skin barrier. Our serum SUPERFOOD multipurpose vitamin face gel is developed with this type of vitamin A derivative.
SUPERFOOD also contains dexpanthenol in a concentration of 5%. Dexpanthenol is a B vitamin that has a calming effect on the skin and helps to reduce skin irritation.
Provide fatty acids that do not clog pores, as well as moisture. The goal is a strengthened skin barrier, normalized sebum production and better moisture balance. The skin needs the right fats to increase barrier function and resistance. The fatty acids must penetrate the skin well and have low comedogenicity, which means they must not clog pores.
Supplying the right fatty acids helps improve the skin's moisture balance. The tendency for skin inflammation is reduced because the skin barrier is strengthened. If your skin tends to be oily and produces a lot of sebum, you should choose light creams that do not clog the pores. ANTI-POLLUTION daycream is particularly suitable for those with oily skin.
If you have combination, dry or sensitive skin, both URBAN PROTECTION daycream and our richest product, ANTI-AGE night cream , are very suitable. URBAN PROTECTION daycream is used during the day, while ANTI-AGE night cream is used in the evening.
